Ok here's the deal, lost the belt about a 1/2 mile from work, will I kill the truck if I drive it about another 1/2 mile down the road to get it fixed? Everything seems to spin Free except the lowest pully. right by the oil pan. I'm an hour from home at work, with no tools. So the dealership might be getting my business

Nope, I don't think it will hurt anything to drive it 1/2 mile without a belt, that said, just watch the temperature gauge. as long as it is cool, you will be fine(serp belt drives the water pump) You also will have no fan, or alternator, but those are hardly 1/2 mile show stoppers.

Next, Where is the truck located? I Work in Columbus, IN, & have just about any tool imaginable available. If you are South of greenwood I could help you out. P.

Thanks for the feedback and the offer, I had some tools with me, but nothign I needed, plus I don't think the people would be really thrilled with me wrenching on the truck in front of the guard shack. I dropped it off at the a local repair shop in Greenfield(work). Not really a lot of other choices at the moment. Should hear something back here in a few. The temp didn't get above 170 on the way over there, it was the original belt too.

Glad you made it Ok. I am betting the belt just gave up. On a 01, the belt could be close to 6 years old... Let us know how it turns out. P.

well the tensioner locked up and threw the belt. So that's the story. Getting fixed right now. I better start put some real tools in the truck for these kind of things. I guess.
