I recieved your e-mail. The marks be down in there. I'd have to look at the book, but recall the crank to cam is O to OO and E on pump gear.
I'd say the gear(s) cannot become out of mesh simply by R&R of the pump. However, as Mike stated, if you try, you can. I have never attempted to try.
Bob, keep us posted. I'll do what I can to lend a hand. I don't have my spare pump yet, but have planty of known good injectors you are welcome to try.
