Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Loud Clicking While Braking

not every time, but a good amount of the time my truck clicks when i'm slowing down fairly quickly. it seems like it's the abs, but it isn't. it sounds like a fan blade is hitting against something while slowing down. the sound is also inconsistant-but only happens when slowing down (it usually goes away when i come to a stop). fan clutch? i've looked around and can't find anything. any suggestions

Could be the front axle U joints they grind and click when they are bad. Try it in 4 wheel drive you'll know if that's the sound your hearing.
