Loud crack noise when turning right and going over driveway transition.

I get a loud crack noise when turning right and going over driveway transition. More or less turning into a driveway quickly and going over a bump. Any common things to check out? It is loud enough to hear 20' away. Shocks were replaced and no change.

My 04' had a cracked track bar bracket and a boogered up sway bar end link, when I put my new track bar on I had the bracket re-welded (naturally) and the noise went away. Take a look underneath and check for obvious stuff. I hope it's nothing major.

The factory sway bar end links don't last long. If you haven't replaced them yet then they are almost assured to be junk. I went through two sets of them before getting some Max Link replacements. Haven't had a problem since. If I were to do it over again I think I would get the parts made by BD. They can take more rough treatment (articulation). The ML's are ok if you don't do much off roading.

does it sound /feel like it's coming from right under your feet?
took me awhile to fing this same (I think) noise.
ended up being the cab to frame mounting bolts.
It's not a matter of just tightening them (tried that first) you'll have to take them out.
a couple of the bolts were have rusted away so I replaced them. The mounting holes in the isolators were full of rust/dirt/junk.
cleaned them out, replaced the rusted bolts good to go for 2 years now.
this is why just tightening won't work.

You were very lucky to be able to remove that thing. If it was me, it would have broke off flush with the nut.

Impact gun got it out.
ratchet probably would have just twisted it right off.
But like I said new bolts, cleaned out mounts/isolators NO more noise!
PAIN to find the problem.

I had a horrendous crack sound on my 04 2x cc dually w 133k on the odo. Thought it was the sway bar links as one had a blown out boot. Replaced. Still hear noise as I went over speed bumps. Checked it again, pulled wheel off to poke around, don't see anything outstanding. Grabbed the rotor unit, moved it up and down. BINGO! Worn out ball joints upper and lower. Replaced with new MOOG stuff, greasable now, from ROCKAUTO. Uppers are arm assembly only. Replaced the bushings on the lower arms too, all is well now after alignment done. A word of caution on the MOOG lower arm bushings. MOOG lists a package of lower bushings that are for front and rear of the lower arm and are sold as a pair. Catalog error! There are two bushings in the box, but they are the rear bushing which is bigger than the front one. Got the correct bushing for the front from Ma Mopar. MOOG does not list a bushing for the front. They do show one for the rear, or the pair which are actually two rears.

So far the sway bar end links replacement with Moog parts appear to have solved the problem. The ones on there had broken boots and one was even rusty inside.

No still have the loud crack noise going over a bump. Will have to work on it some more to hunt down.
