Got a call from my dad today, He informed me that on start up my truck is making a kind of grinding noise. But aftert the truck gets a little warmer it goes away. Now temps. out side have not been above 25 degres F. and down to 0 for the past 2 weeks. He said when he listened, it kind of sounds like it is near the center of the rad. But not sure. Anyone heard of this? PLease let me know I am returning back home in the next couple of days. Thanks as always for the help.

mine makes a bit of a grinding type noise at startup... on mine its the power steering pump, it goes away in a few seconds. my old 85 toyota truck did the same. if thats what yours is doing I dont think its a problem... just a normal cold weather thing.

My power steering pump makes the grinding sound as well. It only happens in severe cold weather (low teens and single digits) and goes away after warm up. The sound changes when I turn the wheel, especially cranked all the way.
