Good Morning Gentleman,

I have been reading this forum for years now and have found it to be the most informative on the internet.

I am fortunate enough to be back in the diesel game. My truck is a 17 Tradesman with a little over 900 miles on it.

I now notice a distinct metallic tick or tap coming from the area of the injectors/injector tubes. It comes and goes and only does it when the injectors fire. There is no noise when the rpms drop after being rev’d up.

Yes, the warranty is still intact. I am just trying to save a trip if this is a normal noise. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I cannot hear it in similar videos I’ve stumbled across.

Below I have attached a link of a video I took.

The new engines are so quiet at idle that you can hear every little tick that used to be covered up by normal engine noise.

I'd have to say your engine sounds a lot like mine. I hear different little ticks all the time too. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have a check engine light. With only 900 miles on it, you have a lot of warranty left. The bad thing about TDR is that you get paranoid reading about other people's troubles. Just enjoy your new truck, they are actually pretty trouble free.

I used to hear it.

I don't any more. I don't know if it is the occasional bottle of diesel fuel treatment that I use or if it just "broke in" and doesn't do it any more.

I've used Stanadyne, Optilube, and Power Service. I like optilube the best but Power Service is the only of the three that has a biocide. The fact that PS is the only one with a biocide is probably why Cummins decided to recommend it???

I know I’m late to the thread but OP dont worry, I have a 2014 6.7 with 55,000 miles on it. Mine has sounded just like yours since day one.
