2017 3500CC 6.7 Aisin 4x4 Odometer reads 6500. I brought the vehicle in for oil and filter. Dealer not only did the oil/filter but since he had the new water pump he performed the T51 water pump recall and the U11 interlock recall via a flash. Today, which is about 5 days later and 120 miles, I started the truck cold and saw the yellow battery light appear. I immediately shut the truck down and used another vehicle. 8 hrs later started the truck with no problem but about 3 mins into the warm up the red low antifreeze msg appeared as well as the yellow battery light but both went out within 30 seconds. The reservoir is at the medium mark and all cables at the both batteries are on tight. I drove it for about 10 miles over some rough roads light has not appeared and there appears to be no codes thrown. The battery showed a solid 14v with no fluctuation in cluster display while i drove the 10 miles. Could all this be related and somehow due to the replacement of the water pump or the flash? Also are those batteries AGMs in the 3500 diesel.

My guess is you coolant is right at the low mark.high enough that when warm the sensor shows the level is good but when cold it's low. This can happen if the system had some air in it that now has worked it's way out to the burp tank. As for the alt I'd keep an eye on it maybe a plug connector is not fully seated? ether way i think a run past the dealer at least for a top off of the coolant is in order.

Take it back in let them topp off the coolant level, and ask about your yello light being related to the work performed

Thanks for the replies. Maybe the coolant msg was related to an air pocket since the reservoir is now even lower and no msg has reoccurred after driving 30 miles. No yellow battery light either so I am wondering if it is a loose connection or if maybe a marginal cell. When I started the vehicle last night, the battery display showed 12V for 10 seconds then went to 13V for 10 seconds then held a constant 14V for the duration of the 30 mile drive. Does any electrical component need to be disconnected on the water pump replacement and are those AGM batteries.

On cold start up the grid heaters are turned on and their substantial amperage draw will pull down the voltage.Returning to the dealer may remind them to be more careful refilling the coolant after the recall is performed.Whenever a high volume easy recall happens they may distribute the work to techs that don’t normally perform that operation on a regular basis

Exactly what happened to me . Topped off coolant, ok then & had a first time mechanic! Even asked if they drove it a while, apparently not enough ,took me about 10 miles. Considering it was almost closing time on Friday and was fighting rush hour traffic to return to dealership was not a good experience.
5 hrs total time at dealership
