Ran into a situation recently... I have had no problems with my 2006 big horn. I updated to the Brite box from Geno's that allows the fog lights to be used with the highbeams. While driving one night. . With low beams and foglights on. MY driver light flickered then went out. Shortly after my passenger side went out. Then my high beams went out... I drove home with fog lights for 20 more miles. I was disappointed and automatically blamed the bright Box. I disconnected the Brite Box next day and I end up with High beams and funcioning fog lights. . No low beams. Called Genos and customer service was Great. He sent me a new Bright box and said that it may be faulty or it may be the computer on my truck! WHAT?... Any ways. sent back my Old box, installed the new Brite Box and ended up with the same problem. No low beams. Changed bulbs and checked all connections prior to contacting Geno's and everything seemed OK. I contacted the Manufacturer of the Brite Box and he told me that it's the computer. Just take it back to the dealer and they'll upgrade to the new computer that should solve the problem?? How come the day the brite box was installed the problem occured? Anyways. took it too the dealer today and they ran a diagnostic test on it for 100 bucks. they call me 2 hours later and say it's the totally integrated module/ Front control module and it the cost is $830 with labor!!!! WHAT? Any way short story. I pick up my truck and tell him that i'll set up a later appointment to scrape $800 dollars for a working set of low beams... Any ways the rest of the story ends up really Happy! I'm not gonna say how just in case certain people read this... . My brother... thanks for the help and the first class service and installation. . Your Dealership is 2nd to none! thank u for the help. . Enjoy the Pupu's, smoke meat and Heineken!!! u the man!!

the wiring of the 06 is very complicated. the low beam wires each go back to the tim and solid state devices series them for daylight running or sends full power to them for head light on. for the 06 and 07 5. 9's the only safe thing to do is to mount a switch panel to turn on the low beams and fog lights and not use the truck wires for either one. also for the ones that tow the trailer lights go through the tim or pcm as i call it. if you have a short you have to get it reflashed to get your tail or brake lights to work again a second time you get to buy a new tim. most owners are building a isolation box and mounting it in the drivers side bed near the tail gate it contains a fuse block three or four relays and diodes for each

if you are just interested in the fog light fix. just connect a 30 amp fuse to the battery then to a dash mounted switch then to the fog lights and do not use truck wiring now you have fog lights when you want and none when you do not

I have not hooked up the brite box after the dealer switched the integrated module because i'm scared it's gonna damage the new module. The feature i really liked about the brite box was that it allowed the low beams and highbeams to go on together when the highs were activated. Instead of the lows deactivated when the highs are on. I may look into hookin up an accessory switch for the fogs. We have alot of offroad areas in Hawaii and i really enjoyed the extra light when the brite box worked for that short while.

Thank you very much for the reply. If anyone else has had any problems like myself with the brite box on a 3rd gen let me know. I really wanna hook the box back up because the manufacturer of the brite box told me it would work after the dealer upgrades the integrated module... . If he would pay for my repair if it stops workin again i would have no problem. But we'll see. . I just don't want to take the chance. They should put some kind of warning on the add saying some vehicle computers may get damaged when you install this so be prepared to pay $800 when it does!!!

By the way. CKELLY... How do you like your combo of injectors, smarty and cfm. It's very similar to my wish list except i was gonna go with the POD smarty... Let me know

MAHALO!

it gave me 40% better mpg. the other mods only helped incrementally i tow with this truck and we are still experimenting with some more things but none are going to really be cost effective

CKELLY. Do you feel the Dyna tracs were worth it... Could you actually feel the difference with the lower rolling resistance? Have you considered an aftermarket Turbo yet? is it safe to assume that thats what u meant by. . None really cost effective?
