I'm With You - It Happens To Me Once Every 5 Days Or So - Doesn't Matter If I'm Towing My Antique Tractor Puller Or Just Street Driving , Did It Last Night - My Autozone Code Scanner Will Not Clear It - I Recycle The System Maybe A Dozen Times ( Shuttung And Turning The Key On ) And Starting It 6 - 7 Times And Then I Can Get The Light To Off On The Dash And I 'll Drive It And Its Fine , Then About 15 Minutes Later I Can Go Back In And Clear The Code With My Cheap Scanner

It's a lot easier to clear with a Smarty.

BTW, is this problem only on the 04. 5 and newer trucks?

I have talked to Marco in regards to the P0299 and the code can be set anywhere in the map so writing a specific program is not an option

Instead of a specific program can the code be removed from all programs? There must be some programming code somewhere that monitors things and sets that specific code and that should be something that can be removed or bypassed and therefore eliminating limp mode.

Good idea, I wonder if it's possible.

The other years are seseptible to this as well but with the tighter emmisions in 04. 5 the tigher some of the programming was made. These trucks run so hot that if there was a boost leak or malfunction of some sort the window of engine failure is narrowed.

I emailed this question to Bob Wagner.

Yeah, I can deal with a CEL but when im pulling heavy trailers I dont need to deal with half power.

One memrable experience was towing about 9-10k over the Grapevine in SOCAL, before Smarty was released. I was stuck shutting down my truck and having to restart. Luckily i got it going by the last off ramp before the 10 mile or so pull up the grade!
