low boost, no leaks, no check light???

I have not been on the board for several years, but I finally have a problem with my truck. I have a 06 3500 auto with the exhaust brake. I have a full set of gages, but no chip. I used to get 35 psi boost under wot. I just took a trip over the mountains pulling 10k and could not get over 15 psi. Is there something that I can look for? At 50k I am out of warrantee and I don't like the dodge dealer here in Reno. It has not been smoking or anything. I drive fairly easy, so I have not felt any lack of power. It just seams strange. I have read on here about pinching the waste gate line. Will that help?

How long since you have changed the fuel filter?

I think it has been about 7 or 8000 mi. Could that be the problem? The guy at the local Cummins shop is very outspoken about not using the lower micron filter. Could that be my problem. Which one should I use.

Check that ALL exhaust manifold bolts are tight. Check where the turbo bolts to the exhaust manifold and that the gasket isn't blown out or leaks. Check the rubber joint hoses between the intercooler and turbo and piping for any leaks, holes rubbed through the material. Is your gauge accurate? Did you lose power? 35 psi on a stock engine sounds a little high. Generally a stocker runs about 21-25 psi tops

did you notice a loss of power,or did you just see the gauge. you lost 50% of boost, but no smoke?

Check the hose to your gauge. Mine did the same thing the power was good but the boost and EGTs did not match. The hose was not heavy enough and just a little short so it was pulling against the end of the hose barb and split.

I have two fuel filters one is 7 microns and the second is 2 microns and a pressure gauge and don't have any problems with getting enough fuel to the injector pump.

I will look at that this morning. I still get egt's well into the 850 to 900 range. I live in Reno, We are at about 4600' and I used to get 34 psi all the time.

If you were only making 15 psi boost, you would have noticed the power loss pulling 10k lbs through the mountains. Your egt would be very high also. It sounds like a problem with the gauge, hose, etc. and not low boost.

Mid 30's is normal on the 600 series

Bob... on a stock engine? I can run about 35-38 with a Smarty jr. Mine is a stick... does that make a difference?

I didn't find any leaks on the gage hose or anywhere else. Any other ideas? Could I have codes and no check engine light?

ok, I found the problem. The plastic line right at the boost bolt was cracked. It looked ok, but as soon as I touched it, it broke completely. I guess I will be calling Genos.
