Just changed my filter with a Baldwin PF7977 and now when I turn up the Juice I have lower boost levels than on the stock setting. Full throttle on stock 37 psi, WFO level 3 28 psi 1K EGT didn't try any other level because I got a little spooked. Also I'm noticing a pos. injector rattle/slightly rough idle intermittently. I'll be heading to the dealer on Tuesday for a look. Any ideas ( bad FCA, bad injector/s, lift pump, CP3). Truck has been running fine and was getting ready to put in an Airdog 150(little late now). If it's injectors I may be going the F1 Flux 1 route. I'm thinking the filter change was coincidental since I've been noticing a bit more smoke at idle for a while and a intermittent rough idle I chalked up to carbon deposits. I know the only sure thing is to take it in but I'm looking for some ideas first. Took the last dealer 4 visits and me stranded on the roadside to find a bad FCA and rail relief valve at 50K, I won't be going back there. Thanks for the input and sorry for the rant.

Just took her out for a run and got some erratic results. Stock setting 38 psi just over 1000 F feels fine. Tried another run and bumped up to setting 2 under 3/4 throttle and went wide open boost jumped to 40 and pulled strong. Next I left on level 3 and she didn't want to put out more then 25 psi, level 4,5 same result. Next I left on level 2 and back to maybe 30 psi. The strange thing is if you weren't paying attention to the boost you may not notice it despite a lack of grunt. EGT's were tough to evaluate due to back roads and 55 speed limit, I backed out around 65. Maybe FCA, but I'll do some research don't think it's the in tank pump but may be wrong due to another post I read, I just did the filter and bumping the starter pump came on and filled the filter fine. I'm really trying to somewhat diagnose it myself based on past trips to the dealer (different ones) and don't have much confidence in their techs or lack of wanting to actually fix a problem even though I'm willing to pay for it. I'm almost out of warranty and they'll probably tell me all is well:confused: Maybe a trip to a real Cummins shop is in order. Thanks.

I just had my Edge short out on the boost fooling end. It toasted my Map sensor and left me with no boost. I would unplug the EDGE from the OBD port and from the Map, and drive it for a couple of days to see how it acts.

Definitely bring it to a reputable and recommended diesel shop and try to avoid the Stealership if you can.

Thanks, I was just wondering if the extra fueling was dumping the rail pressure due to a failed component or something. That might be the same incident I'm having. The only concern I had is the rough idle (minimal) and a weird issue if you revved the motor in neutral the motor revs down strange. If you rev it to around 2K and let off it does not come down linearly but kind of sloppy if you will. Also this evening it sounded kind of loud during warmup while driving, 46 F outside, knocking sound. That; being cold to us down south I'm not sure it's the nature of the beast, I've been in colder temps in it hunting (teens) and remember it being smoother. I think I have an issue with the Edge box as well as something else, my auto shutdown quit and has run by itself a few times:mad:. Thanks for the input.
