Need some advise down here in lower Baja. Read a lot of the threads on low engine power. Truck starts and runs great till it gets to operating temp and then loss of power. Not throwing any codes, fuel pressure 10lbs at idle. Tightened intercooler boots, no change. Will do soapy water leak test soon. It seems from what I read there are three probable suspects, turbo (waste gate) Map sensor or vp44. 149,000 milage, lost speed control 70,000, lift pump 80,000. Trans was hunting for awhile and fixed that by wrapping ground lead from alternator with aluminum tape as suggested by one of the post. Up till now a great truck minimal problems. Comments please.

Also, you might want to consider replacing the coolant temp sensor.

Both the coolant temp sensor and the IAT are used by the ECM to instruct the VP44 injection pump on the appropriate mixture, timing, etc. If one or both were giving false readings, you wouldn't necessarily get a DTC.

Good luck,

John L.

Are you sure you're not driving a Flord:-laf:-laf

Have you checked the air filter? Do you have a boost gauge? Where are you getting your fuel pressure reading? How old is the fuel filter? My truck always feels different after I driving something else for awhile, sometime the voices in my head tell me something is wrong but not:-laf

checking into where and how to get Iat and coolant temp sensor down here.

failed to mention before have changed the air and fuel filters and getting fuel pressure reading off the schrader valve at the injector pump, no other gauges. Been dragging my feet on that, however will remedy that soon.

Most all I know about these trucks is what I read and learned on this site. But, as my grandpa would say I'm not sure I understand all I know about this. Many thanks for response.

A note of thanks to TDR members and special thanks to J. Landry and Bwagnaar finally got the parts down here in Baja replaced IAT not the problem ,water temp not the problem and finally the Map, Bingo
