Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) low fuel light

On my way to work I turned right onto the interstate and the low fuel light came on. I drove the 20 miles to work and the light never went out. I have only drove 220 miles on this tank and have not pulled anything I usually get around 450 miles before the light comes on. What could this be any ideas?

The fuel sending unit has a reputation, and not a very good one. I also have a 95 and mine acted up at around 20K miles or so. I didn't learn of this until hooking up with the TDR. I don't recall all the particulars, but use the search feature on fuel sender or ??? and you'll find plenty on this subject. Some of the posts have photo's and directions on how to rectify. Good luck with it. It's on my to do list, but just hasn't made it to the top yet.
