Anyone got any suggestions?--could I have something in my fuel system that would have reclogged the fuel filter after jus' a few in-town errands over 4-5 hours?

Or simply a failing, erratic lift pump... ?--or a bad fp gauge?

Thanks!

Simple things first.

Check the gauge.

The stock lift pumps are known to be erratic before they fail.

Check the filter! what does it look like?

If you happen to run bio-diesel/new ULSD it will clean out the tank and will require you to change the filter a few times after starting to run it. Also if you are running a isolator, check to make sure the top part is full of antifreeze. Sometimes they run dry and it will cause the pressure to drop as you drive. If you're still running the stock lift pump, beware... they suck and you should think about replacing it with something better or atleast in the meantime, a new oem pump. Hope this helps a little:)

I've wondered if it's just the gauge, but how would I check it?

I've never run bio-diesel...
I'm trying to get up to speed on the pump replacements & will prolly go for Geno's relocation kit, especially if this one starts acting right...
I dunno what an isolator is, so I'm prolly not running one...

I filled up awhile ago & took a hard, fast turn & it went back to 12 on the fp gauge for the rest of that trip out... maybe it needed diluting lousy diesel & a good stir...

I have a 99 that acted the same way. At times it didnt start very good. I have a pressure gage that would be good for a while and then go to 0. At first, I thought it was the gage. The pump hadnt been on for very long, like less than 10K. I went with the after market larger pump and, other than the cost, every thing is fine now with good pressure.

I started it up again & it went directly to 12 & stayed there... just in case the fillup followed by the hard turn REALLY did make a difference, what's the easiest way to stir up the fuel that's in a tank?--or is TOO much stirring a BAD thing?

I would think that in normal driving it would keep the fuel stirred up.

My pressure would change from up to about 12 pounds back 0 before the new pump. I changed the fuel filter a couple of times before I put the different pump on. Each time I did it didnt change anything. Dont know how long they have to be run without pressure before it hurts the injectior pump. I drove mine about 50 miles one time with no pressure on the gage and it didnt change anything. I am sure it didnt help anything
