Thanks to a post or two from the past I just killed two birds with one stone. For the past few weeks my idle has dropped to the point where if the A/C is on it stalls. I also noticed that my cruise control was not working, the l. e. d. would go on but nothing else would happen. I did a quick search on this site and found out about the vacuum line leading to the speed servo. Immediately went out to the shop, popped the hood and whoopee! Sure enough, the vacuum line had rubbed against the battery case for so long that a big ol' honkin hole was staring me right in the face. I spliced the line and fixed it with some stout new stuff. The hole was quite big and I was losing vacuum (or boost, whichever it is) the whole time the engine was running, regardless of cruise control, hence the incorrect idle. Cool huh? Don't send flowers, just money.

Hate to pop your bubble but I don't see what the cruise control has to do with idle. Losing vacuum on a gasser with effect your idle but not on a diesel. On your year Ram the vacuum only serves the climate control and cruise. You might have to turn the low idle screw up after all.

A thousand pardons oh great one. You're right, the systems are indeed separate. For some reason, however, probably my remedy for the control line (see other post), my idle is higher. I'm probably getting more fuel off idle. That doesn't make sense either but hey, I won't argue with a 9000lb truck. Thanks!
