i had about 650lbs in the back of my truck look at my sig but my mpg is low i took a trip all interstate at 2150rpms my mpg turned out to 13. 7 that really sucks what can i check to get my mpg. if i got a splitter how much better mpg could i see. what things can i check? i though i should get at leats 16 or 17. i kept my foot out of and and i did not have a head wind so s/m is not right. i have done this test before and got 15. 5 mpg which is still low. can anyone suggest anything?

Both of our trucks get 15 to 16 mpg all around, empty. :p

You are turning a lot more RPM's at highway speeds then my 97 does. 4. 10's? Or what is your definition of highway speed? :D

Wasn't there some debate on the benefits of running with no plate versus a 0 plate? Have you checked for boost leaks with the engine off? How about dryrot in the fuel supply/return lines? How fast were you running? It sounds like it's above 70mph. What was your boost during the low fuel mileage?

I've been a bit disappointed with my mileage although not as bad as your guys' rigs. On a weekend trip towing about 3600 lbs boat I got 15. 5 but I was doing at least 70mph average and had some headwind. Same boat behind my '03 and '01 4x2 trucks I had previously I got a full 2 mpg better. I know 4x4s drag the wind but it's amazing how dramatic the difference is between this an my last 2 rigs. This thing feels like a brick at 70 whereas the '03 cruised effortlessly at 80, and still turned 19. 5mpg at the worst. I like this truck a lot though and it's a keeper, just gotta get used to the fact it's not a freeway flier.
