Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Dowel kit

Over a year ago, I put a Western Diesel EGT guage (DiProcol I think) on my 2000 2500. I have never seen the temp go over 500. I suspect that's not correct, as I have a modest fuel box and tow an 8000lb travel-trailer up mountains on occasion. I feel like the temp is about twice what the guage reads.

My question is, how do I determine if the guage is the problem or if it is a bad thermocouple? Dang, I guess I could have made a mistake on the installation... but it seemed pretty straightforward.

I'd rather not buy another whole kit if I can go to the manufacturer with a little more knowlege and see if they will help me out.

Thanks in advance.

What all do you have on your truck. Fill out your signature. I suppose it could be possible if you had a stock truck with an HX40/14, 5" turbo back exhaust straight piped, and a large air cleaner.

Describe how you mounted your EGT probe. Is it pre or post turbo, drilled and tapped, or clamped... ?

OK. I have the sensor drilled and tapped, pre-turbo HX35W, in the rear partition of the manifold. I have a K&N filter, but a new AFE stock-box replacement is in the mail. The muffler and cat are gone, and I have 4" all the way back with a resonator.

Thanks.
