Low Oil Pressure in Cold

My 96 has 163,000 miles on it. The last month or so when the outside temp is 40 degres or below when I drive it the oil pressure drops under aceleration. It idles at 40 pounds but when over half throttle it drops to 20 to 25 pounds you can let up and push in the clutch and it jumps back to 40 quickly. It will do this until the oil temp reaches about 190 then it stays at 40 under power and it idle. I do not know if I have a serious problem or not . It does it everytime until the oil warms up. The truck has had 15-40 Rotella since new with oil changes every 5000 to 6000 miles with Fleetgaurd Filters. Sorry for the long post I only wanted to give enough info maybe some of you experts can help.

Everytime I diagnosed a "funny" oil pressure reading it has been the sending unit.

Go to local parts store get a new pressure switch around $15 and if you don't have it buy the GM switch socket to install it with. only why to reach it . under fuel dist pump /aboveand to the rear of p/s pump. . takes about 10 min to change out. .

Ive had to replace mine twice.
