My 92 has 107000 miles on it and the oil pressure is getting low on the factory guage and I was wondering what causes it. The truck has been babied all its life. Hasn't pulled much and has never been driven hard. Any Idea's.

Ive replaced my sending unit and it quit again put a mechanicle on it use a "T" on the block then you will still have the idot light feature as well

Low oil prerssure

Put a mechanical gauge on it before condemning the oil pressure

Bob thanks for the advice. I put a mechanical guage on this morning and at hot idle it was 40 lbs and with just a little throttle it went to 80 lbs. I was a very happy man. It had me a little bit worried. Thanks for all the help.

My oil gauge goes down when I give it throttle, and goes up when I lift to coast. I have not put a mechanical gauge on it yet. Minimal oil consumption in 4500 oil change intervals, light puff  at the vent tube.

Patrick.

Yeah, I've bought several because people were scared of the oil pressure. The idiot light would come on when they lugged it at a light, letting out on the clutch and such. I replaced the oil pressure sending unit, and all's well. From time to time, you can clean them, too. Seems with certain oils there is a sludge build up that stops them up for some reason..... or that's what it looks like to me. Most of mine are rock solid, even the oldest '93 with 390k on it. It gets a little lower when it's really hot and it's due for an oil change.

Oil pressure

Ya, my '92 has 82K miles and my factory oil pressure gauge is all over the place. PUt in a mechanical gauge off the top of the oil filter house. Consistent mechanical gauge and varying factory gauge.

Wow! 40idle hot and 80psi driving? Geez, I have 25psi hot idle and 55psi on the highway! with 15w40. .
