Archived low on boost

need a little help

Hey guy's, need a little help, 2002 auto, with gauges,Smarty on #5 from one day to the next starting to make about 4 psi less on the boost. Going down the highway was normaly 7-8 psi and about 700 F now only seems to do around 4 0r 5 psi, temperatures about the same.

Temperatures seem normal to me, maybe a little higher on accelaration, but settle right on down to normal, only 4 psi less boost.

I thought boost leak, removed and inspected all boots, only one with a little damage is pass. side from the intercooler from rubbing on the fender, however not al the way through, pipes are nice and clean,

Reassembled everything and pressuretested to 30 psi, can not find any leaks in the whole induction system, checked horn, all boots and around turbo checked with soap and water, tight as can be.

Checked wastgate, seems to operate normal, snaps shut and moves freely, opens up at 20 psi on the gauge. cant think of what to do next, thought maybe a gauge failure but it seems to do alright , wastgate opens right at 20 psi, anybody have any other suggestions??/

PS no codes besides 1693 and 0620 (J hook on turbo), fuel pressure good, never below 12 psi (vulcan), truck does not seem to be low on power

Only thing I can think of is less fuel. Try a fuel pressure test to see if the lift pump is putting ou enough fuel.

Thanks Bill, was told that boost=fuel=boost, so less fuel could be a possibility, thinking if the VP can't suck it down below 12 psi, there must be enough volume, starting to more worry about the VP itself , no codes however and no other symptoms.

Curious... does your intercooler have plastic or metal end caps?

It has metal end caps, I think I found the problem, P0216, but I can't get the codes to come back, or the problems for that matter. I think I just noticed the first signs of my vp44 dying.

low boost

mine runs down the hiway with no boost. The boost MAY start (will only start) after 1600 rpm and it will only go to 14 lbs. I have pushed it to 3200 starting up a hill and got no boost.
