It is near 100 degrees here in Eastern VA. I am driving home in stop and go traffic and now I am hearing an intermittent low pitched whining noise that I can slightly feel when accelerating slowly from a stop and it goes away after the truck shifts out of 1st gear (auto transmission).

I have not noticed any driveability issues. It sort of sounds like the fan clutch is stuck or something... . could it be related to the very hot weather we are having as I have not heard it to this point, but this is the first time my truck has been in hot weather since I've owned it (Oct 06)?

Any thoughts?

Ben

BTW, truck goes in for service Monday for another issue... guess they will be looking at this also. :{

It's probably the fan. If you run the A/C, the fan will come on with the vehicle at rest. However, mine usually remains on (and sounds like a windtunnel or large vacuum cleaner under the hood) until about 25 mph.

Ryan,

That is exactly how it sounds but I had not heard it until that day when it was very hot. I also did notice it more with the A/C on.

I love my truck but they have got to get this HVAC system squared away.
