I just got another 2003 with 88k miles on it. I noticed the fan will come on and off several times sometimes like when I'm pulling in somewhere or slowwing down to stop. And its really low on power( won't hardly pull a hill on interstate in 6th gear running 75-80mph). It isn't smoking at all, but the injectors sound a little noisy. Anybody had this problem? The fan problem is probably the clutch, but would it kill the power? Does it sound like a bad injector? I haven't encountered the injector problems yet on any of my 3rd gens. So I really don't know what expect from a bad one. I would assume a bad injector would be pretty obvious though. Looks like it would smoke some. Thanks in advance for the help.

I'd blame the fan first. Fix that, then see what happens. DMurdock might be onto something with the rail pressure relief valve. If the prior owner was running a box he could have damaged the valve.

Is it the same truck in your signature? It sounds like you bought another 03'. Is it stock? Has it done it since you bought it? How is the boost or do you have a gauge to monitor it yet? Low boost maybe, check your clamps and hoses. Air filter, fuel filter may need to be swapped out, if you just got the truck, it's hard to say what the previous owner did for maintenance.

Basically check fuel and air first.

Fuel filter, rail pressure, air filter, boost hoses.

Also, as a longshot, I'd try disconnecting both batteries and letting it sit a while to re-set everything.

Disconnecting batteries won't reset anything. But you will have to reset all your gadgets with memories :-laf

Air and fuel filters are new. I replaced them. Don't know about rail pressure. Boost is good. I haven't done anything to the fan yet. I guess it would need a new fan clutch. Haven't had any fan problems before. It isn't the truck in my sig. It had no bombing but I have a BDDL on it now. That helped but its still not where it should be. Thanks for the info. And yes, it is an HO 305hp engine.
