Hi everyone, I'm new to the website but have every issue of the mag. I've got a 300hp 97 4x4 dually flatbed,5spd(original 5th gear nut!),354,straight exhaust, blah, blah, blah. I just went through an ordeal with low power, something I'm not used to with my setup. After trouble shooting for three days I finally found that my fuel overflow valve on the p7100 was defective, it was popping off at 16psi at 2000rpm, nominal pressure should be 24-28 psi. This causes a fuel starvation and the resulting loss of full fueling. The problem was hard to find since the loss of boost under a load pointed to an air leak or AFC/wastegate failure. Live and learn.

Did you get the new valve in yet, and if so did you do it under warrenty, or are you over mileage? I had mine replaced last year, made a huge difference.

Pete

All of this happened at 103k but I wouldn't have been able to do the warranty anyway, I lost that after changing the torque plate. Also, the dealer in my area is the worst I've ever dealt with, my blood pressure goes up every time I drive by there. I replaced the valve immediately and now have even more power than ever. The valve was probably slightly malfunctional for awhile but then finally went altogether. Big difference, I might have to go back to the dyno again just to get an update on my horsepower rating. I might be well over 300 now. When I first dynoed it the operator's eyes got really wide as I smoked the clutch in fifth gear and put out 298 ponies. That was a year ago, I might not have been getting full fueling. Hmmmm.

Sorry 'bout the late reply Pete, left for the weekend. My torque plate is a BD 280hp but it's been pushed back quite a bit. My cummins is actually a California model which started out as a choked up 180hp. When I moved to Oregon a ripped out all of the EGR krap, put in a K&N, eliminated the muffler, and installed the BD plate with boost control and gauges. That's about it, simple stuff. The placement of the torque plate can really affect the HP. I have no problems with temp or smoke and my stock clutch is still going good(I shouldn't have said that). The dyno numbers I gave you are accurate, rear wheel numbers from a Cummins Northwest service center here in Oregon. What a great motor.

Adam,

Does Oregon do diesel emissions testing?? What's the annual vehicle registration fee in Oregon. Considering a move and was just curious.
