Has anybody had problems with power when towing? On an 05 with the stick the truck it powerful and peppy, put a little 7000lb 5th wheel on it and it feels like a worn out 350 gasser. Doesn't seem to smoke to much, but it gets around 9 to 11 mpg and takes pedal to the floor to maintain or gain speed up minor hills. Stock truck for now. My 04. 5 with 37's pulled a 5000lb trailer like it wasn't even there on worse hills.

Any ideas would be great! At that mileage it would be cheaper to fly everywhere, stay in hotels, and get rental cars!

Yes I am having the same problems... No codes but there is no power... I am stock but it would i could handle 10,000 lbs. with no problem all stock here except for nozzles and cap the rail pressure.....

some one please help i have the same problem with my 03 6spd without a load goin over minor hills i got to hold it to the floor just to maintain 75mph it is in the shop right now but they are saying no codes and nothing wrong

Any time you think it's not running rite change the fuel filter before trying anything deeper. You be surprised at the difference it can make.

Not without a pressure sending unit drilled and tapped into the housing, or using a DTS (scanner0 while driving and watching the values on the screen.

You could use a boost bolt and gauge like I did on my other 04. 5. Probably the easiest setup there is.

I was wondering, beyond the fuel filter, if it could be lack of air movement, in or out, or someone else mentioned the valves being off might hurt power. Some sort of computer thing maybe? Air filter is good(stock) pretty sure the fuel filter is good, only has about 5k on it I think. No major towing untill now, 200 miles with 7k lbs, still dino oil also.

I'd say put the trailer on have dealer hook up scanner and check rail pressure under hard pull when you feel power is lacking. Your milage is really irevelant.

Pluged fuel filter, bad lift pump etc . Have you fixed the open elbows on your fuel tank that lets in all kinds of water and crud right INTO YOUR TANK????
