I have been thinking about buying a new over-rail low-profile tool box for my SB truck. Camping World has one on sale I like. What could I use that would be super thin material to protect the painted top railing of the bed where the box will rest. I do want it as thin as possible.

Rubber from an old inner tube might work, but I believe that whatever you use a little dirt/sand will get between it and the paint and act like sandpaper. :(

Good luck

get foam rubber that has a stick side to it stick it to the truck and set the box on that then you dont have to worry about messing up the paint on the truck where the box sets

have your bed Rhino-lined over the rails and don't worry about it.

Thanks for the tip Cyborg, but I've been down that route before, had a 2nd hand truck I bought before the CTD that orginal owner had the over-the-rail liner installed. When it rained, it would leave black streaks running down the side of the truck. Even after I cleaned the liner real good I thought, It was a white truck, but it was not a Rhino-liner. Truck was only two years old, I really don't like the looks of the over-the-rail liner.

Thanks anyway for the reply

Tony
