Was looking at an older 1978 Prowler Camp trailer yesterday, and wife wants it. Price is right, I just need to know if I can flip the axles on it to be on bottom of springs to lift up trailer 4-5 inches so it wont drag itself if I get off a perfectly flat surface with it. Other than buying new U bolts, is there something I am missing? Looks like it can be done

I am assuming your trailer has Dexter axles. If so, go to the Dexter website, they have info on a kit for flipping axles. You can also check with a local RV dealer, the process doesn't cost much - around $150-$200 I think. Dexter website

Dexter axles have camber built into them. They cannot literally be "flipped". The Dexter kit includes new spring perches that fit on top of the axle to allow the axle to be mounted in its original orientation except below instead of above the springs.

While you are at it get a shackle rebuild kit ,that will give you grease able shackles. The ones you have now will be in bad shape if things are normal They get wet rust and take out the plastic inserts fast. :)
