I got fuel locally & discovered that they were the same price????? I thought the low sulfur stuff was gone & the ultra was the cause for the spike in fuel prices when it came out???

Are they priced the same where you are at??

Guys...

A while back, I spent some time with a large fuel distributor here in my home town... . this was 2 winters ago when we were looking at gel issues...

He told me that none of the refineries were making low sulfur fuel because they had converted over to ultra low... . he also warned me not to believe anything told to me by the people in the station... . they have no clue for the most part... . they just do what the brand tells them to do... . and I'm guessing your seeing pumps that were not labeled correctly... .

My distributor has to store and ship a few tanker loads of fuel a day... . they don't have the man power, storage ability to store more than one diesel... when they deliver off road fuel they add the dye to the fuel as it goes from the pumping/storage station into the tanker... . or sometimes as they dump it into the tanks at the station, as they have problems getting the dye out of the tanker trailers... .

I can't 100% prove that no one has low sulfur but I'd bet a $5 bill that I can't find any here.....

Hope this helps...

I filled up with low sulphur today at a Loves Truckstop in Rock Hill ,SC.

Fairly new up to date truckstop. All diesel pumps I see there are labeled low sulphur.

And by the way $4. 51/gal

Andy, since all new class 8 trucks have to have ultra low sulfur fuel I can only assume that your truck stop is another station that isn't following the label requirements...

If you think about it..... most truck stops don't have the storage ability to store another quality of diesel let alone the problem of 60 ft of tractor/trailer in the wrong line to get fuel...

You'd have to either have all the same fuel, or large enough signs and routing to get the right trucks in the right line... . and drivers that wouldn't try and cheat.....

I doubt that you got low sulfur at Love's they are just cheap and haven't changed the labels. I never get fuel at loves anymore. The couple of tanks I got gave crappy mileage. But I love them Chesterfried chicken livers!:-laf

low sulphur is still being made... it is still available. I buy it often. It is HIGHLY illegal to mislabel pumps. I'm buying from Valero, Shell, etc. Not some mom 'n pop po-dunk backwoods pump

As you mention Jelag, I have also heard from multiple sources, including a Shell representative and various distributors, that all retail pump fuel is now ULSD. Whatever refineries and distributors that are left brewing LSD are using it specifically for off-road fuels, and that is about to cease as well to meet the next level of standards in which off-road fuel also has to be ULSD.

Remember, every retailer HAS to carry ULSD, while they MAY also carry LSD if they have the tank storage. Most or all don't, and certainly wouldn't add the capacity for 1-2 years of possible use. Again, LSD is completely gone in the next 12 months.

If you are seeing LSD on the pump, it is HIGHLY likely it is a labelling issue.

not true! it's being made till 2010... why on earth would fuel stations turn away all of the 07-08 owners away? Again, it is HIGHLY illegal to mislabel fuel pumps, and they are actually audited/tested/checked/calibrated fairly often.

from the department of energy's website

The NEMS analysis reflects the “80/20” rule, which requires the production of 80 percent ULSD and 20 percent 500 ppm highway diesel between June 2006 and June 2010, and a 100 percent requirement for ULSD after June 2010.

found here:

Energy Information Administration (EIA) - The Transition to Ultra-Low-Sulfur Diesel Fuel: Effects on Prices and Supply

I actually got into it with a guy I know that works for Shell about this.

While LSD is allowed to be produced until 2010, as I also mentioned in my previous post, the problem is that for most refineries it is not economicaly feasable to produce both. They are not required to produce 20% LSD, they are however required to produce at least 80% ULSD.

Believe what you want, but every indicator I have seen indicates LSD is only available in off-highway fuel, and it has been that way for the better part of the last year or so.

I live near countless refineries... we DO HAVE regular LSD available at the pumps.

I'm sorry if people elsewhere in the nation don't

again, why would a fuel station turn away all 07+ diesel owners?

It's pointless to continue debating this, you believe what you want to believe and I will continue to believe what I know to be true from sources I trust.

And what does living near a refinery have to do with what's in the retail pumps at service stations? I commute within a couple miles of a refinery every day, but that has nothing to do with what fuel is at the corner fuel station.

I'm just saying that if anyone has any LSD laying around to be sold, it doesn't have to travel far.

weather it's being produced or not, it IS still available at the pumps.

friend of a friend just went in on 1MIL gallons of clear LSD. they've just about got the shipping logistics figured out, only hitch right now is insurance.

will someone please answer the question I've posed multiple times? why would a fueling station turn away all 07-08 truck drivers? one of the Valero stations I fill up at in Victoria, TX has truck pumps... there are 18 wheelers in and out of there all the time. The pumps have LSD fuel in them. Why would Valero turn away new trucks to the tune of $250-500 a pop if their pumps actually contain ULSD in them?

sent an email to Valero regarding the LSD pumps I fill up with in Victoria, TX. Here is their response:

Mr. Nearing,

Victoria locations are being supplied through an exchange agreement with CITGO who supplies and owns the Victoria Terminal. CITGO Corpus does not make ULSD only LSD. The labels are correct.

Valero Corpus Christi supplies ULSD at the Placido terminal not far from Victoria.

Hope

this answers your question.

Here in Austin I haven't been able to find any LSD available for retail purchase. However, my uncle works for a utility construction company and they are supplied with fuel for their offroad equipment by Sunoco and it is LSD. I would kill to be able to fill up with LSD instead of the ULSD crap.
