Input on older trucks and Bio/veg.blend

Any Bio in MO?

Will we be able to buy the high sulpher fuel after 07 models come out? Will there be additives available ?Ive heard very little about these changes, can someone head me to more info on all of this?

if I understand it right... not all stations will have to sell ULSD until 2010. Regular D#2 will be available after 2007. They'll just have to keep that warning sign on the pump that states it is not for '07 vehicles.

Wouldn't that be fun?, not knowing if the next fueling station had 15ppm or not? If you use it then you ?????? lose your warrantee? If you do not then you are stuck at the xxx fuel station until 2010? Better have a "full time" RV with you!

GREAT system! The P7100 looks better and better. Stop at McDonalds and "fill er up".

But that won't affect us (pre-'07 engines). We can run on any sulphur content.

My quess is most stations will want to go to ULSD so as not to turn any customers away. There's also the supply line thing. Distributers will want to send one product down the pipeline and it will most likely be ULSD.

The reg's are a little vague but it looks like a station could choose to sell the LSD (supply problems, etc. ) past October 2006 and just leave the warning sign on the pump.

I think here in SW Idaho we've been getting ULSD for some time. It's a very clear fuel that looks almost like water. I haven't noticed any performance changes.

ULSD timeline

Information from Industrial Info Resources:

Dept. of Energy regulations lowered sulfur content from 5,000 ppm to 500 (LSD) ppm. Then newer regulations require 15 ppm (ULSD) by 2006 - June

Today - Refineries have met the objective of 15 ppm, but also continue to make 500 ppm diesel. ULSD requires additives to improve engine performance. The additive most often used is 5% biodiesel.

2006 - June, Refiners are required to insure that at least 80% of the volume of the highway diesel they produce is ULSD.

2006 - Sept. ULSD must reach distribution and marketing points.

2006 - 2010 LSD may still be sold at retail locations. Although ULSD will be the dominate highway diesel fuel produced. However the EPA does NOT require service stations to sell ULSD.

Owners of 2007 models must use ONLY ULSD fuel. Earlier models can use either fuel. (I'll use the least expensive - if given the option)

2010 - Dec. ONLY ULSD fuel will be available for highway use.

2012- Jan. ONLY ULSD fuel can be used for off road uses - i. e. locomotives, marine and construction.
