I have replaced several "o" rings in my fuel system due to low lubricity of current fuel. Anyone know of a good additive or how good Cummins Fuel Injector cleaned will work. Hate to buy a newer truck just because the fuel problems.

Low Sulpher fuel

Lucas makes a good product so does howes and the cummins products are good , ATF works good as well .

But a product that will put sulfer back in the fuel is 2 stroke oil , my guess is add a 1/2 pint to aquart to a full tank of fuel .

But i have heard that there is some new O rings out there of new materials ,

call a pump shop and . So far i have not had any problems i use fuel aditives religously and no problems but then my truck is not turned up either , that i know of , I think the key factor is dont play with the pump all the time .

ATF will guarantee fuel system replacement in short order- friction modifiers are for transmissions, not injector pumps.

Most seals and o-rings are made of viton- which is resistant to the newer fuels. Actually, the old LSD had a high aromatic content which caused the nitrile seals to swell. ULSD has a lower aromatic content, which will cause the old seals to shrink, thus leaking. I'd go ahead and replace all the lines and reseal the pump just to be safe, if you are having problems.

I dont use ATF that much ,but i do have one stupid question

that all the old timers that spent millions of miles on the road ,

ask them what they used for additive in there tanks and it was ATF

but a lot used 20 weight or 30 weight engine oil , of which would probally be better , it seem s to me te pumps that are leeking are the ones that are being tweeked alot

a person would really be better off to find parafin to put in your tank ,

maybe a the additive in gearoil that gives it the sulpher content ,

the only test is on a fuel pump test stand .

I have pumps with tons of hours and miles they never leaked

they all used the old school aproach given they had better fuel

too back in yester years

Do the fuel lines going to the fuel tank have seals and o-rings that have to be replaced too? How much money are we talking to replace all seals and o-rings to the new viton type?

Two stroke oil or non-detergent 10W will work great for additional lube and not foul the injectors. Mixed with Power Service it makes an excellent additive for all diesels. I run it in both of my trucks with good results.

"Old" is the key here. The older ATF did not have the amount of modifiers in it that todays ATF has. In addition, the older fuel systems had a lot less pressure and greater clearances that were not as sensitive as the newer ones.
