2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission lower ball joints + caster

I was adjusting the caster on my truck yesterday and noticed that my lower ball joints had an 1/8 " of up and down play in them is this normal for a truck with 40,000 miles? Also I adjusted my caster from the stock setting at 12:00 -12:30 to 10:30 11:00 the truck does drive a little better,will adjusting it further out make it track better,where I have it adjusted now is as far as I want to go before the trackbar hits the diff, cover. any suggestions thanks. My 02 2wd needed all new joints at 47k. Made a world of difference

I believe maximum play is . 030.

so It looks like mine are shot,does anyone know what the max is on the caster, as I stated before I am concerned with with a clearance issue with the differential cover and the trackbar ball joint.
