SO with EZ on setting 3 - EGT's run up to about 1300 under load on big hills. Tuck is still all stock and I don't want loud exhaust. Will a drop-in AFE help? Or should I skip that and get a full filter/box kit? If so, anyone know anyplace in Phx that might have them on the shelf? Don't want to spend lots of $ at the moment and would feel much better if I topped out at 1200.

Thanks

well,,,,,,,swap u ez fuel pressure box for a box with timing. b-dog adjustable for example] the timing helps egt. go a 5 inch exhaust w/ a hiflow muff. not too noisy but helps egt. the stock filterbox is a pos. get an aftermarket system,[full fltr/ box kit]. [bdog rfi, scotty 3, afemegacannon etc. ] the combo of these will help egt.

have fun

A few questions to the last poster

Have you seen any increases in MPG with the Bullydog?

Is your wastegate tied off, and if so, can you recommend how to do that?

How much louder is the 5 inch exhaust? I do love my quiet truck!

Thanks.

The EZ does timing for 24v 2G trucks. I don't know why it wouldn't on 3G. Keith?

Dump the stock airbox. How much boost are you getting?

ez on the 3g is fp [fuelprssr] only. no timing. only b-dog at this time does timing but edge will have timing in january,,,,,so they say at this time.

ive seen a bit of an mpg increase w/ the b-dog adj box. on the timing and fp setting, mid position. not the high as i just used hi to get really serious:D the new boxes will have timing only position on pos 1 to help mpg even more.

you can use a boost elbow on these to up the boost

i havent had an ez on my 3g but i did have the bdog fp box which is just like the ez for the most part. on mid pos on timing/fp adjustable box i have way more power and lower egt than the fp only box. the timing does help. and on hi,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,wow :D

as to 5in ex noise,,,,,,,,,,well,,,,,,,,,,,,,i have just a res on mine,no muff. but,,,,,,,,,i have heard a few 3rd gen 5inchers w/ a hiflow muff and it was of my opinion that they appeared to be fairly quiet. just the right amount of sound. of course this coming from an old half deaf guy whose previous 3 ctd/rams had 4inch straight pipes:)

:D I got it! I had a 2000 CTD, and the folks near where I hunt were ready to shoot me- said they could hear me 3 miles off! I think that was more clatter than exhaust, but who knows- i was always inside!

Thanks for the info.
