Lowering 2008 DRW

Some time back I saw a post on moving some shims from below the rear axle to above it. Someone please direct me that direction. Thanks!



Truck sits too high even with my 12K 5er. Seems to have plenty of cleareance still between the helper springs. Trying to level out the truck and get some more clearance with my saddle box. Probably only going to take one or two out at first and see how she rides.

My 04, 04. 5 and 05 have a set of shims between the spring pack and the axle. . they can be removed to lower the bed about 1"... On my trucks there was enough threads on the U-Bolts to do this...

HOWEVER the issue is that if and when you need to work on the rear brakes, you don't have the space to remove the bolts to the caliper... the bolt ends up hitting the axle. . on one of our trucks we thought we'd just jack it up under the frame instead of the axle and let the axle hang, thus allowing more clearance... Didn't work. . we ended up loosening the U-Bolts to the axle to get the clearance we needed...

I have an 08 5500 but we've not looked at this truck to know what it needs and it currently has a flat bed on it anyway... .
