I am looking into lowering my 98 3500 4X4 because it sits too high for my liking. I wanted a 2wd 3500 but could not find one I liked at the time so here I am.

Has anyone done this and what is required to gain how much?

It looks like the front end can only be dropped about 1. 5" till it hits the stoppers. Rear is no problem.

You have THEEEEEEE Perfect truck. . Don't lower it too much! Be proud its a 4x4, and make her look good! Lowering a 4x4 is very ghetto-fied if you ask me... I would kill to have your truck, and just a 4x4 in itself.

I have to agree, I would love to have that truck. A 98 12 valve, you get the updated intrerior and the reliability of the p7100.

I do like the truck, but part of the need to lower it is the wheels and tires look too small for the wheel wells. I just think it would look better.

It is the best of what Dodge has put together though.

Being I have a 2500, I just removed the 2" leveling kit from the front, and with the stock springs there is 2. 5" till the axle hits the rubber blocks. I am not sure on shorting up the bumpers on your truck, but there is 2 ways to lower the front that I see, custom springs, there are some threads on here I have seen where they can be ordered. My idea, and I studied this out, is to cut the coil towers add to them, and weld back together with some reinforcement ribs. That keeps the stock springs and shocks. Then there is the track bar issue, again back to the cut off wheel, then shorten as needed, and then sleeve and reweld. Without doing some research on removing the rubber bumpers and making them shorter, I am not sure there the axle would hit and if it can be overcome.

I am happy with the front now back at stock, being I have a plow I do not want to take to much out. I am not that worried about the front being less beefy b/c I drop the plow as soon as I am done plowing. I do not leave it on. That Ultra-Mount is great :)

Can't wait to drop the rear and make it level.

Rule to live by: Function before fashion.

I wanted to lower the rear of my 2500 to help fit in a parking garage. I bought some 3" alluminum blocks from Autozone, really cheap looking pieces of crap when you compare them to the massive 4 3/4" cast iron blocks on the truck. Basically, they were way too narrow and too short to even sit on the axle plate. I have not looked into another source for 3" blocks since.

What did you do with that 2" kit you took out?? Want to get rid of it?

Joe.

The springs are sitting on the garage floor. looking to sell, see the classifieds. Selling springs and the Skyjacker shocks.

Thanks
