My 06 3500 SRW rides high on the rear and even loaded with the 5er its still slightly high. i would like to lower the rear 1 to 2".

With great interest, I read the threads about removing the 1 or 2 spacers between the axle and spring pack but alas my 06 does not have these spacers. Instead there is a thick fltter leaf that does not contact empty but sleadily increases contact while loaded and then at some point the helper pack contacts. This suggests a decent progressive rate spring and probably also explains why my truck rides reasonably well empty for a 3500. a set of good shocks would likely help the ride even further.

but back to my question. Is there any other easy way to lower the rear? It looks like there would be room for a longer rear hanger but I need to remember that I will only get half of the drop at the axle for whatever shackle extention can fit. Does anyone makea longer shackle for the 3500? I sther any other method short of a re-arched spring pack. I would really rather not remove that thick leaf at the bottom of the pack.

Appreciate any comments.

Heavier 5er. Just kidding but my 3 horse LQ trailer with hyd. jack, twin propane tanks, twin batterys and Onan generator under the goose is the only thing I've ever put on my truck that makes it ride level and pulls great. I stated to lower mine a long time ago but when I got this trailer I'm glad I didn't.

my 02 had a 5 1/4 " spacer and the rear was too high to pull my 5er. i took it to an off road place and they lowered it by puting in a 2" spacer, now i have to put it back up a little to haul my camper but an off road place should know how to help you. robert

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Based on the replies, I think I'll leave well enough alone. Everything works fine, its just the looks of the high rear end that got me thinking.

maybe you could just take out the smallest leaf on the bottom above the overload ...

should drop it about 3/4" and you still have the overload to set down on when you load it

The deal with swapping blocks from under to upper or removing them it that your not doing away with spring load. Just height. If you remove a leaf your loosing weight carrying ability.
