Getting ready to go and plead my case for a new LP from the dealer under warranty and have a few questions.
1) when u first turn key on to "wait to start" what does your FP get up to? Mine is anywhere between 0psi and 3. 0psi and the pump only sounds like it runs for a second or two then stops. Is there a spec for this. I know that there was a hard start TSB that reduced either the psi or the duration of the intial key stroke of the pump, but I dont think I had it done. I have the cold idle done but it never worked, was it in that TSB package?
2) How do you do the crank psi test. I know you pull the fuel relay and crank the engine and the LP is supposed to make 7psi, but how long do u crank for. Where does the fuel that it is pumping to the VP go? does it just return to the tank or is the VP pumping to the cylinders? What happens when I'm done testing and want to fire truck up? DOes it explode LOL?
By the way here are my numbers: WOT- 5psi, Idle-11. 6psi 12 on a good day when its hot out and truck has run alot. Cruising at 70-9. 2psi. and as it stated above initial key stroke "prime" pump runs for 2 seconds tops and hit btween 0 and 3 psi.
When I do the starter bump to prime after fuel filter pump runs normal and pulls roughly 14psi.
AM i worthy of a new LP or am I gonna be changing one on the side of the road some day?
I have gotten so many different responds from dealers as to what is spec for my truck and what is the "critical" number for replacement. DO all the spec numbers have to be out of line or just one of them for replacement? dealer doesnt seem to know!
Thanks
