I have done a lot of reading on the subject of lift pump fuel pressure and noticed that people are reporting fuel pressures of up to 21 psi. The fuel return relief valve in the vp44 lifts at 14 psi and the stock spec for lift pump pressure is greater than 10 psi. This will result in the relief valve being fully open all the time and the lift pump working extra hard.

There is also a lot of talk about the fuel cooling the vp44. I agree with this, but I am wondering about this high fuel pressure which results in high flow not allowing the vp44 to be cooled properly. If the fuel passes through the vp44 to quickly there is not enough time for heat to be transferred from the vp44 to the fuel. It is similar to running an engine without a thermostat.

What are some of your thoughts on this subject?

i think you are right, but it would have to really be moving fast not to cool, i think the whole idea is the have the board covered in fuel and if it becomes uncovered thats when it would go! diesel is also a lube for moving parts.

i hear any more than 15lb is not good but i also hear the opposite that 20-25 is ok for it too,

so iam also looking for answers.
