Recently I have been watching my fuel pressure gauge vary wildly from 12psi to 6psi to -2 [bottomed out] back to normal etc. Most of the time readings are normal, but occassionally the gauge movements catch my eye and I see low or no pressure then back up to normal. I have purchased a new pump from Cummins and will install it soon but I'm wondering if my gauge or sender might be at fault. Has anyone else had a failure that was "intermittant" like this, sometimes good pressure other times zero? Truck is an '01 with about 40k miles. When the starter is bumped the pump sounds normal when pressure is OK, sounds very weak during periods of low\no pressure. Bad connection somewhere? or a typical dying LP. Thanks Guys, Jim G.
