St. Louis Area Diesel Get-Together For August/September

I found out today my employer, Continental, is

planning on a 12,000 employee furlough. I hope

to be lucky enough that this does not impact my

quality of life or my carrer. Without being

selfish, I feel very lucky to still have my job

right now. Midway airlines has completely closed

down. There are likely other airlines and

businesses related either directly or indirectly

to the airline industry that will without a

doubt be affected, ie the Travel Agents and

hotel industries.

It is somewhat unnerving that the same type of

aircraft the devils chose to use as their weapon

of destruction, the Boeing 757 and 767, is also

the same type that I fly regularly as co-pilot.

I have yet to fly since the events of Sept 11,

and I am not looking forward to the changes that

I will have to endure on the job, the worst being

that question in the back of my mind, what if... ?

Regardless of what is going on, I still look

forward to the TDR gathering in Kerrville at the

end of the month. As of right now I am sheduled

to be off that weekend, but with the restructuring

of the airline industry, I may be assigned a trip

that weekend but chances are slim that will

happen.

I hope to see you all there.

Chris,

Good to see your OK. That was something that I had thought about over the past week. I knew you fly Boeings but I didn't kow who you flew for. We have two tickets to fly to Conneticut a the end of October and I'm not for sure that we are going to be making that trip. My wife is already afraid of flying, add the element of what could happen and she is definatly not ready to fly yet.

We'll see ya there.
