I haven't hooked up to our 5th-wheel trailer yet so I can't say how the towing performance has been affected.
I would guess you will have lowered your RPM's at cruise by 130 rpm but do you think the added height will cause clearance issues with your 5th?

Thanks for the pics. . sweet looking rig!

I put the Toyo 285/70/17s on a while ago, I have not tried hitching up my 5th wheel yet, but the truck is at least an 1" higher. Looks like the 75 series are much more expensive as well, mine cost just under $800 installed.

We still use a TT but a 5th is in the plans, isn't 10" a recommended clearance between bed and trailer?

Yeah, something like that, I did not have that much before the 285, I think I may go to a 16" wheel and tire on the 5th wheel to raise it a little then raise hitch a little.

i have them too. they look and ride great. i am very concerned about the wear rate. i got 22,000 out the stock tires (bfgs)they were about 2/3 gone , could have went another 10-12 with some tread left. these tires are 1/3 gone in 2000 miles. i do not think they will last 12,000. they are all towing miles and the rears are going fast. the fronts have that cupping or stepping to them. i will rotate today.

A couple of questions about this size tire (285 75R 17). Who else makes these size, with load range E? I'm not having very good luck finding anyone.

Besides the dia is there much difference in a 285 70 17 Toyo? Quite a cost difference, thought I guess I cna do the one time alittle more money deal.

I have the same size in the goodyear MTR they wear faster but have been extremely better ride than both the stock BFG's and the Mich's in the 265 size. They are a D load range but handle the same weight at 60 PSI.

I have towed two different 5ths with mine and neither was a problem with clearence. I had these on my 04 stock height and on my 06 with a Carli level kit.

I'll be curious what the wear rate on these is. It looks like I'm going to get at least 80k out of my factory Michelin LTX's, and although I'd like to go slightly larger, I can't justify it unless I get at least 60k out of them.

My wife just put the Toyo 285/75's 'E' on the truck while I was gone. We had the 315 BFG AT on before. She called after she put them on and said she likes how the truck rides even more with the new tire. I just got home so I have not checked milage differance or RPM differance yet. I had a set on my last truck and I got sixty five thousand out of those. I hope these do as well.
