Trans temps while towing

I have a large triple slide trailer and always spray some WD 40 on the mechanism. This has worked fine for me for a long time. Before I used WD 40 for the first time my largest slide would shudder slightly and make noise as it slid out. A couple of sprays cured it instantly and I've been using it ever since.

I have a teflon pad that fits over the pin. The big boys use a heavy grease to lube fifthwheel plate. For the internals I use Amzoil MP.

Soon to be mildly bombed. 84 Dodge d-150, 318 Hooker headers,Edelbrok intake, mallory ignition,Carter Afb,Accel coil, and Custom dual exhaust. Boat, fifthwheel, motorcycles, and shop. 72000 as of 3/1/01,not even broke in yet. Old Dodge 126000 miles and running better than new.

My slide is on a "rack and Pinion" system and I’ve been using grease. Now that I think about it grease attracts dirt #ad
and of course the R&P is on the out side of the trailer, but silicone doesn’t last very long. What do you guys recommend?

Cliffman, like I said on my earlier post WD 40 works great and doesn't seem to attract dirt either. My slides are hydraulic with rack and pinions. The pinions are just there to keep it even as the piston drives it in or out. WD 40 is a very light lubricant but after several years of success I'm not about to stop using it. I normally spray it once in the winter when I'm parked in AZ and again in the summer at home when I do my annual maintenance.

I would be more interested in what if anything is being used to lube the seals on the slide-outs. I've used silicone spray but as others have said ,it dosn't last very long. If there's a product out there that someone is using I'd like to hear about it.

I use this stuff I paid to much for at Camping world. It sprays on, and looks like a wax. After it drys it will not attract dirt. It also seals the metal so it will not rust. After one year, the rack below the slide looks great, no rust. I did notice Amsoil sells something that may be the same stuff (for less). I have to pick up an amsoil order in a week or so, maybe I will buy a can and see.
