OK Guys My POD injectors just got in from Piers Diesel, but no destructions, I mean instructions was included. So how about a few pointers on the installation. Piers sent a bag with the normal seals, but what are the rubber tubes for ? Also Ideas on the pump settings would be great, I would like not to smoke out the neighborhood I just want to go YEE HA :--)
CrewCabDiesel, Piers is on his way home from CA as we speak. I am going in for a proper pump timing and some POD's on Tues. I'll try to remember to ask for some instructions to email you. You might try sending him an email and see if Louise or Al can send them right away.
If not, I'll see if he can give me some formal instructions for you.
There is another thread (new one) that goes into this nicely if you want to take a look...
One thing I am worried about is that I have to use sleeves to convert my 9mm head to accept the 7mm Lucas injector. Do I still need to use another seal washer with the sleeves ?
Got the PODs in and noticed a couple of things, (note I have yet to change pump settings and timing and am running very conservative settings and stock timing) 1st of all I notice that the Cummins is much quieter and the idle is down about 100rpms to around 675-700rpm(which I like). Smoke is about the same, maybe a little more. Power can't really tell, seems a bit more peppy but the roads are wet. I was running about 22psi boost WOT, now around 28psi . EGTs can hit 1100F if I hold it to the floor for a while , max speed 94MPH. At 75mph EGTs are down to 600F-650F and less petal is used. I am going to wait for Piers to e-mail me some instructions to do more. I would also like some input for you all out there as well. Now I am REALLY Looking forward to the bombing session at Macomb Cummin-uity College . Over all I am very happy with the Lucas POD injectors, but installation instructions would have been the icing on the cake. I am still a novice to the Cummins, and find the info found TDR priceless Kyle
