"How does it work?"

Serpentine Belt Tensioner Beware

I use their fuel additive (Upper Cylinder Lube) on a regular basis... . As far as their oil goes I don't have any first hand experience. I read somewhere that the "transmission fix" is pretty bad stuff "if" your transmission is not totally shot. It swells seals and can cause damage in a good transmission. Before I had my SunCoast installed I put some of the Lucas Trans Fix in my stock RE and it "seemed" to help but not as much as a new transmission;)

On my previous trucks I replaced, at every oil change, 2 qts. (sometimes 3) of the Rotella with Lucas oil stabilizer. I have no scientific proof but I swear that it cleans up the engine---My last 99 with 160,000 miles had clean, clear oil every time I checked it. I used Lucas Oil Stabilizer in the front and rear diffs, transmission and transfer case. I swear by the stuff but I am not going to use it in the new truck after break in because I am going to use Amsoil.

the Oil Stabilizer is good of you've got a wore out old engine w/ low oil pressure... I wouldn't use it on a good running engine w/ good pressure. it's way too thick!!!

my '97 has 220k on it and makes 60-70psi of oil pressure running down the road. I can't IMAGINE how high it'd be w/ 25% Lucas in it!

----No higher whatsoever. I have used it in MANY good running engines with good oil pressure. No problems other than once dirty oil cleans up after a couple oil changes.

It actually thins out real nice and mixes quite well with the other 75 % of 15-40.

I always looked at it as preventive maintenace with the thermal breakdown reduction qualities it has to offer.

I find that hard to believe... i had an old car that was barely registering at hot idle and would wind up to maybe 20psi of oil pressure hot cruising...

added 20% Lucas, and it made 20psi hot idle and 40psi cruising.

I'm assuming you were using the factory oil pressure gauge if you saw no change in pressure. because it doesn't really change. when my oil pressure gauge reads almost 100psi in the morning, the factory gauge reads 42... when I'm seeing 60-70psi running down the road, the factory gauge reads 42. (that's why I put a real gauge on it! LOL!)

Guess I'll have to get an aftermarket guage. :)

However, I have run 20-25% Lucas in my trucks for, probably, a total of 300,000 +miles with no engine problems. Granted, these motors shouldn't have problems but I never had any oil pump etc. problems.

I don't doubt that, but I feel that it might be more of a rain dance than anything else...

I ran nothing but Rotella 15w40 in my old truck, and the motor is still kickin' at 365k miles...

if I ran Lucas in it, it'd probably have run the same, but my oil costs would have been higher and the motor would have slightly more parasitic drag on it from chopping through the thicker oil ;)

Hadn't read it and it is interesting. Never, ever had a problem with it and will continue to use it. I really do not see that test as an accurate test of what happens in a motor. Matter of fact, I have drained my oil within seconds of a long idle time and have never seen any bubbles so I'm not sure what to think.

it's a flawed test as far as engine oil is concerned...

that test whips air into the oil... that MIGHT occur in a transmission or a rear differential, but in an engine oil pump, there really shouldn't be much air drawn into the pump... just oil.

it's an interesting test, but it's a flawed one IMHO. I wouldn't worry about running it because of that test.

Well for snake oil I sure have seen some benefits. Between my old Internationals with hundreds of thousands of miles and my CTD's I have used gallons of the stuff with no ill effects--ever. Definitely no foamy oil---that test does not pan out with my personal experience. I will continue to use it.

Can you say "STP". A long chain viscosity modifier. Just use good spec oil and change it at perscribed interavels. The engineers have done their work well!
