Has anyone ever used LUCAS OIL products?
Our local diesel shop just started to carry it and is boasting its oil and additives. (sp?)

I currently have the gear lube in my transmission. The stuff is really thick going in when cold. The 5-speed shifts much better when it has 'warmed' up. I saw the 'gear demo' on the parts counter with the additive vs. regular oil and thought that it would protect 5th gear. I don't tow anything worth mentioning but the tranmission definitely shifts better.

Large Car, Tha additive you are intrested in is Lucas. This additive is just a tackafier called paratac. It is already in some oils. It should only be used in gear oil but it is marketed for ATF, Motor oil Hyd oil etc. I would not recommend it's use in anything but gear oil. You can tell which gear oils have it in it. It feels tackie which makes it climb up the gears and keep a better oil film on the gears. I have never been one to recommend an additive of any kind, but don't see any problems with using it in gear oil. It should not change the additive chemistry of the oil and it will make it climb.
Sincerely Kevin Dinwiddie
PS Mag-Hytec has an oil for sale that has it in it already.
