ok guys , hekp me out , i saw that a couple of guys run transmission fluid with there diesel fuel and keeps everything clean in the fuel system ? i also saw someone saying they get 3 lbs more boost running lucas , i would like it if some of you guys would chime in on this one

Never saw any boost gain with the Lucas additive. Slight (maybe . 25-. 5mpg) mileage gain with it in the tank. Seems to work fine.

Don't use transmission fluid.

You don't want to use ATF, especially if its red, because if they should take a sample of your fuel, it would appear that you are using dyed fuel, untaxed, and I've been told that the fine is terrific. In my 89 Ford diesel, I did add a mix of ATF and Diesel Service additive, when I pulled the injectors at 225,000 they were clean with few deposits. I also was still running the original pump. when I recently sold the truck at 275,000. I attribute this to the ATF and additive. Only Changed the fuel filter about every 50,000,

atf

if you want to use anything in you fuel mystery oil which is red works fine. do not use atf.

the dot officer that checks your tank and says you are using red diesel your response is prove it. guess WHAT he can't fuel stabelizer is red mysteryoil is red but it is all the same fuel.

i have benn using diesels since 1979 never have i added any conditioner keep you filters changed using wix or better grade. keep your oil and quality filter up to par most inportant change the radiator fluid don't let it bget hot. you should be abel to run 500,000 miles on that cummings.

So Thats The Best Stuff To Use To Keep The System Clean, and Lubed Up And Flowing Freeely Is Mystery Oil ? What S The Best Fuel Filter I Can Run In The Stock Canister ? I Don T Think They Make Anything Below 10 Micron For The Stocl Fuel Canister On My 2004. 5

DC just released a 7 micron fuel filter.

The best additive for your fuel system is one that is made specifically for it such as power services, howes, etc. etc.

Check any farm store such as TSC, fleet farm, etc. etc. or wal-mart, auto parts stores or truck stops.

I know alot of guys use MMO and on one peticular website they worship the stuff but in my humble opinion the injector cleaners are better and using a combination of different additives only costs you more money.

there is no problem running atf in your fuel system except for the fact that if you do get dipped you could possibly get fined big time for running red. however it is fine to run my self i run powerservice and marvel mystery oil but have used atf before and it works good to.

Umm, ATF removes lubrication from the fuel system because it contains "frction modifiers"... not a good idea IMHO... use a product designed to be run through a diesel and leave the ATF for the transmission...

I have used MMO, Howe's, lucas, and PS all with good results... my best mpg gain was with Lucas... I run Howe's because it seems to work as good and is cheaper.

How Much Lucas Did You Use ? And Does It Really Work Or Is It Like All The Other Snake Oils Out There ?

I used the recommended amount... it is about double the money for the amount needed to do that which the Howe's fuel additive will treat... but it works...

As for working, I have been running Howe's in my truck for several tanks and only get a "drop" of water, if any, when I drain the separator...

As for the red dye, The stuff used to dye diesel fuel is a proprietary type of dye and can be detected by chemical analysis, it is different than the red used in other products. If your using something that is red and stopped and accused of running red dyed off road diesel fuel tell them to do a chemical analysis and then charge you. They may right you up but the case will be dropped due to lack of evidence.

ATF was used in the old diesels with mechanical injection pumps and ATF of yesteryear did not have the kinds of friction modifiers in them like todays ATF has.

Use ATF at your own risk

so whats the best tokeep the fuel system clean ald lubed ? lucas , howes , powerclean , mystery oil , etc , whats the best and how often should someone use it ?

the best additive that i have found to accually work is AMSOIL diesel consentrate, and AMSOIL cetain boost, i got a solid 1mpg over anything else i've used, as for the atf or lucas i wouldent touch any of it.

I use 12oz of Power Service with 4oz of Marvel Mystery Oil per fill-up, when I get down to a quarter of a tank. I save some of the 16-20oz water bottles they everybody drinks nowadays and fill them up with my mixture. Then throw them away when done.

ive used atf before many times w/ no problems the thinsg about friction modifiers as i understand it is that they make things slippery therefore more lube have been wrong before though. for those wondering what the primary use was for cleaning atf has deterganet in them and they clean the injectors real nice but there are better products for cheaper.
