Has anyone had any experience using this stuff?

Not just in CTD's,any p/s system. I'm look for

preventive mantainance more than its stop leak

qualities. I have read a good review somewhere.

But I would rather beleive real knowledge, than a

company web page.

Thanks for any replies.

Im, not a big fan of anything that stops leaks,it is fine to get you thru until repairs can be made. Most stop leak stuff works by swelling seals, this makes them very weak, and softens them a lot. When they do leak once stop leak is used, you need to make the rapairs ASAP,the stop leak actually deteriorates the seals much quicker from my experiences. I wouldnt put stop leak in a perfectly good system, but thats just me.

I have used Lucas in the power steering system on my 1988 Oldsmobile and the results were great. It has been in the system about 3-4 years now. I do notice the steering to be somewhat slower when the temperature gets down in the 20's but the fluid will warm up in a short distance.

Changing the fluid periodically is the best way to go and I will do it on the CTD this summer. The car has never been changed and the fluid is dirty. I will probably also change it this summer. I expected the rack and pinion to fail by now but it keeps going. I hope it gives me fair warning so I can change it at home.

I have a log splitter that has developed a slight leak and have considered using Lucas additive for it but the $28. 00 per gallon cost is expensive compared to installing a new seal.

I used it in my truck when my steering developed a groan. The groan went away. I also flushed the entire system out and put all lucas into it. I've used it in a couple of the family junkers as well to stop massive leaks. I've never had to ask them for my money back, as it is guaranteed.
