hi guy's, ramonram here, need a clutch,i know SB-OFE 13" is the workhorse, but i'm not going high horsepower,i don't have 1000. 00 bucks, won't a good heavy-duty 12 1/4 be better than stock OEM ? or should i just shut up and save for the best. talk to me!! adios

I know of a guy who ran the luk-pro gold up to 408hp but it was gittin pretty weak. Id say it should work pretty good for low HP applications and dependin upon what your goin to tow.

clutch

just replaced mine:confused: but when i talked to the performance shop, thier heavy duty sigle disk was only good for 3 more pound of boost than a stocker i'd check what they are rated for before spending any extra money for somthing you dont need.

hey woodsrat, see your an oh-"10" guy, i was born in toledo, anyway, you just replaced your stock clutch or luk ? i really don't think i need this 13' upgrade, i will have 350 hp when i'm done, but i only want to do this once, i don't tow trailer, but haul heavy loads of tile and stone, waiting to hear back from luk and south bend, thanks

My dad ran one in his 12valve till he switched from his 11 plate to the 5 plate. It lasted a long time till that point but it eventually started slippin and he put a EEP dual disk in after driving my truck. It was a very smooth clutch and easy pedal pressure. He tows fairly heavy stuff with it and that didnt help the slippin any, so he had to go with something else. It really only slipped at the lower rpms at higher rpms it was fine but it was hurtin. He wasnt real easy on it either. Just depends on where you want to end up hp wise and what you do with your truck. What kind of mods are you lookin at?

hey dpugh, thanks for the message!! just looked at their site, so dual plate, 5 plate, lots of options huh, i'll end up with 350 hp,some heavy hauling, maybe i should just hold out and get the SB con OFE 13", what about mitchell, gonna look them up now, all i do is look at truck stuff on internet, can learn alot. .

ramonram

I started out reading stuff on here and I thought Id end up with an edge ez and some 275's... ... ... well after that I had to have this and that before you know it you cant stop

:D Haisleys has good info on South Bend and the Luk clutch on their site. I went with the EEP setup since they are close to me and I plan on pulling this year... ..... maybe. My dad basically went with the EEP setup because of his towing needs and he liked the way mine drove. The number one problem is the end of our drive is a STEEP incline and when loaded down to max weight there is no way he could get out if he had to stop with a stock or the luk. Now he can stop rev it up to about 2500 rpm, and slip the clutch till he gets it out on the road. He was overjoyed with that since backing down the drive and getting another run at it isnt much fun. South Bend has a great reputation, if you havent give em a call and see what they think. The 11 plate and 5 plate I was talkin about refers to the cam plate in the P pump on the 12 valve, also called a load stop. The numbers are just a reference to the grind of the plate. Lower numbers tend to be more aggressive in the fueling dept. Keep on readin up on clutchs before you make a choice, plenty of reading on this site. Good luck, yell if you got any more ?'s

dpugh... hey thanks for the advice, i'm sold now, sb-13" ofe. heck with it ,i'll save this month and get it, clutch is'nt too bad yet. i'm in same boat, steep driveways here in colorado, any curve balls i should know about concerning install?i think i can handle it with the help of my mechanic buddy, install is 500. 00 bucks!!
