I put my Lukes Link on, and the steering wheel remained straight, and no alignment was needed. After 50K miles, I still have not aligned the truck, and tires are wearing evenly.

If you would talk to the vendor. I beleve he has "re-engineered" his product to work now with no "grinding". I believe that it doesnt come as low as the older model.

So Lukes built the prototype off of a truck that had good springs.

I think if you want to complain about something, call DC for building that trash in the first place.

The Lukes Link works, and is cheap. I'm happy with it, planning on getting one for my Jeep, also. :)

Grind A Little

First let me say we did not have to do any front end alignment and the steering wheel was still centered when finished. Also the combination of the DSS and Lukes Link improved the steering, more on the '95 than the '96.

That being said suppose you bought a new car or truck. It does not matter the brand, it could be X, Y, or Z. Everything on your new vehicle is PERFECT, the PAINT, the STEERING, the TRANSMISSION, and the most POWER ever seen, but the drivers door just will not quite close. There is a little corner sticking out that prevents it from closing. You call the manufacture and they say, "First time I ever heard this. You can just grind a little off and it will close".

Will you grind it or just take a hammer and smash in the door pillar???????????Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

To grind or not to Grind

If we were the only ones with this problem it would be one thing, but as previously posted by others, we are not alone. I guess we were the only ones to call the manufacture about this though, because two weeks ago was the "First time they had heard of this problem".

I called the manufacture about it, and he stated that I could either take it off and get the "new model" or "just grind a little off". this has been a year and a half ago. They knew about it.

I got the grinder out.

The man I talked to on the phone left me with the inpression that I had the older model, and since my purchase there had been a change. As to offering two models, I do not know. I was told that the part could either be sent in and replaced, (which is not really convenient due to altering your trac bar, if you remove, its not driveable), or I could purchase a new one, and when I sent the old one back, I would be credited, or I could just grind a litte. I decided to grind.

My 02 4X4 QC wanders. I thought it was the tires (they were new new when I got the truck 3 months ago). Would this Lukes link stop the wandering? BTW, 60K miles. Anyone?

In looking at many of the other messages regarding Lukes Link, it may fix your wandering. You may want to spend the time and check the boards. I put one on my 97 two weeks ago because of uneven tire wearing. So far, so good.

Lukes Link helped my wandering a little bit, but the big change came with a steering box stabilizer bar from Mikes Fab Shop. It tightened everything up, no more rowing the steering wheel.

I called Solid Steel... . got Darrin direct! Great guy! Answered my questions and pointed me to Force Automotive in Milwaukee, Oregon for the closest dealer to save me some shipping cost from Canada.

Unfortunately, these things are popular, so I'm 3rd on the waiting list for the next batch they get in..... but it sounds like it's worth the wait!
