For those of you who have installed Luke's, when the joint gets loose again for the first time were you able to just tighten it down or was it necessary to add one of the supplied washers right off the bat?

Bill, I was able to ......

readjust once with no additional washers. I have not had the need for the second adjustment yet!!!!

Looking at your question again, when I first installed the Link, I used "some" of the supplied washers... . I just don't remember how many.

Steve, you probably installed the larger washers but the kit came with three smaller quarter sized washers, instructions said to put them in your toolbox for later adjustments.

Bill,

The pipe plug on my Luke's Link bottoms out or hits the stop on the link it self. So tightening the plug would not do anything. I would need to add a washer. Maybe Steve put the extra washers in when he rebuilt the bar and not tighten it all the way to the stop?

Thinking about this for a day, it was on a friends truck where I was able to just ...

tighten it down.

"Maybe Steve put the extra washers in when he rebuilt the bar and not tighten it all the way to the stop?" On my own truck, the assembly went according to the instructions. No slop yet at ~30,000 mi since install.

On another owners pickup, I could only get the larger washer in and it would not bottom out. 5,000 mi. later I was able to finish the tightening of the "plug". I took it apart 3 times trying to figure out what I had done wrong during initial assembly, but found nothing amiss. It is working great for him at this point.

I onlly had to adjust (tighten) it once, probably because I didn't have it quite tight enough when I installed it. I did use some washers when I first put it together and have three left now.
