Does anyone have the Lund Exterminator or Interceptor bug shields? The only difference between the two is the Interceptor is about ¼ inch taller than the Exterminator model.

I was going to get the Mopar bug shield. Not only was it more expensive, but the way the Mopar shield mounts, it makes it difficult if not impossible to clean the top of the grill. The Mopar shield is a low profile, which makes me lean towards the shorter Lund Exterminator model. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't know if you are set on the lund brand or not, I looked at several and went with the deflecta shield 3 piece. The hood section actually mounts in the gap between the grill and the hood. It is nicely contoured to the shape of the truck and it actually works. I have noticed a significant decrease in the amount of bugs I am cleaning of my windshield. Don't know if that would work for ya, just thought I would throw it out there. You can see pics of mine if you want in the readers rigs section, under cowboy cadillac 2nd edition.

Lund Hood Shields

Cowboy Medic,

The Lund hood shields mount the same way as your Deflecta shields do. In betweent the grill and hood. I already bought the exterminator model ( the lower profile of the two). Just was curious as to opinions of high to low profile hood shields.

Thanks for the reply.

A friend had the Interceptor and removed it, said it made the wipers and mirrors shake. Went with a Mopar three piece and is happy. I've also been pleased with my Mopar.

Cowboy Medic, I also like the looks of the Deflecta Shield the best. I bought one, but it did not mount properly. It fit in the holes O. K. , but there was about 1/2+" gap on each end. So it looked funny. Therefore I returned it. How did you get yours to fit properly. Thanks KL

On mine, it sure seemed like I had gotten one that sounded like yours but then I got to looking and realized I had to flex it a bit to get it shaped right to the hood. so I got it set on the passengers side and then kept working it until it was flexed and set all the way across the hood. Looks great once it is done, kinda ackward getting it on. Has held up to all the elements, bugs etc. very well. I really like it.

The Interceptor has worked great for me. Inexpensive and Easy install. It does a decent job of keeping off bugs and we get some juicy ones here in Florida. Ive noted no sailing with wipers; however, I've thought about adding the Mopar side brows, which probably help reduce sail.
