Anyone have a Lund Lighted Moon Cab Visor? Just wanted to check on quality, attaching method, how long you have had it, and if you have had any problems with it.

A friend of mine had one, caught a stiff W Texas wind on I 10 one day truck doing about 80 mph when it ripped of causing about $1200 in cab damage, and then slammed into the tailgate, then it took out the grill and radiator on the Volvo Tractor he was passing.
I really wanted on up until that point, so put the money I'd saved into a set of cab lights. At least they wont blow off!

My neighbor had one on his CTD and I must say it looked really good. It was still on there about 4 years later when he sold the truck. I never checked into the mounting but asked if it vibrated at speed and he said no. I would think that it might mess up the aerodynamics of the truck though.

I have one on my '91 gasser (first gen body style). It does vibrate and causes some wild air currents sometimes. I think some of this is because of the bug deflector too. I do like the looks of it on the truck though. That is what made me get the cab clearance lamps on my '01.

Lund makes a fine product: durable and last a long time. Just make sure the installation is as good. Had a visor on my 94 1500 and the installation rusted right through #ad
. Make sure it's all sealed up and watertight. I like the looks a lot but will not install a product like that again. Hope that helps.

I have rode in a truck with them and have found them all to be noisy. Some vehicles worse than others, but all have had some wind noise.
91 Chevy with the "old" style lund visor
90 Chevy with the "new" style visor
91 and 93 Dodge with "old" style lund visor
All added at least some wind noise. The new, sleeker, Lund visors really look nice and add alot of looks to the truck plus they are not as noisy as the old style.

IMO they do look nice, but they have to change the truck aerodynamics a little bit (not that big of a deal), they do add wind noise, and you have to drill holes in the exterior of the truck (something I hate to do). These reasons for not installing one outweight the nice look IMO.

The way they are mounted is everything. The ones that blow off are mounted with small #8 self-tapping metal screws and hold with just a small flake of metal. The Lund install uses the rivot type threaded nuts. Sam on ShadeTree used them to install a spare tire mount on a 4X4. The threaded nuts are clamped in like a pop rivot and hold alot stronger. The advertisement with the Lund guy standing on the visor is installed with these. Don't let the install get cheaped out.
My rig has had a Lund knock off for the life of the truck so far and was not installed with the rivots, just big metal screws. I have to just make sure they are tight and siliconed every year. No probs so far and it gets windy here (30-50MPH)during the summer and warm west winter winds.
